PM Narendra Modi’s Upcoming Visit to Varanasi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, on October 20. During his visit, he will lay the foundation stone for 23 projects valued at Rs 1300 crore.

Signature Double-Decker Bridge

One of the key projects is the ‘Signature Double-Decker Bridge’ over the Ganga River, connecting Varanasi and Chandauli districts. This bridge will be the widest railway bridge in India, featuring a six-lane road and a four-line railway.

Project Details

The Union Cabinet has approved this rail-cum-road bridge, which will cost approximately Rs 2,642 crore and is expected to be completed in four years. The bridge will replace the 137-year-old Malviya Bridge, which is currently oversaturated.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the importance of the new bridge, while Varanasi Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma confirmed the PM’s plans to address the public and lay the foundation stones for the projects.
