Prime Minister Narendra Modi held delegation-level talks with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer at the Federal Chancellery in Vienna. The meeting was attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra, among others.

Earlier, PM Modi signed the Guestbook and received a Ceremonial Reception at the Federal Chancellery, accompanied by Chancellor Nehammer. This visit marks the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited Austria in 41 years, with Indira Gandhi being the last in 1983.

Upon arrival, Modi was welcomed by Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg and Indian Ambassador to Austria, Shambhu Kumaran. Modi expressed his excitement for the visit, highlighting the shared values and commitment between the two nations.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that this visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Austria, adding momentum to their ties. On Tuesday, Modi attended a dinner hosted by Chancellor Nehammer, who expressed his pleasure and honor in welcoming Modi to Austria.

Modi thanked Nehammer for the warm welcome and looked forward to further discussions aimed at global good. This visit follows Modi’s two-day official visit to Russia, where he met with President Vladimir Putin.
