Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the opening of new Indian consulates in Kazan and Yekaterinburg, Russia. He shared this news while addressing the Indian community in Moscow, emphasizing that these consulates will enhance travel and business trade between the two countries.

PM Modi highlighted the success of the India-Russia ‘North-South Transport corridor’ and mentioned plans to open the Chennai-Valdivostok Eastern corridor. He expressed that India will play the role of ‘Vishwa Bandhu’ (Friend of the World) in the 21st century, bringing stability and prosperity to the world.

The Prime Minister praised the Indian community in Russia for their contributions and stressed the strong, warm relationship between India and Russia, built on mutual trust and respect. He also appreciated Russian President Vladimir Putin’s efforts in strengthening this partnership.

PM Modi noted India’s significant achievements over the past decade, including advancements in space exploration, digital transactions, and the startup ecosystem. He highlighted the transformation and development in India, which is recognized globally.

During his visit, PM Modi met with President Putin at the Novo-Ogaryovo residence, where they shared a warm greeting. PM Modi was received with a ceremonial welcome at the Vnukovo-II airport and was warmly welcomed by the Indian community at his hotel. After his visit to Russia, PM Modi will travel to Austria, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the nation in 40 years.
