PM Modi emphasized the importance of close cooperation in defence, symbolizing deep mutual trust. He also highlighted the role of innovation and talent among the youth of both countries.

Social Security and Global Cooperation

A Social Security Agreement has been established to benefit skilled workers and promote mobility. Both nations are also working closely on international platforms, advocating for reforms in the United Nations and other global institutions to tackle challenges like terrorism and climate change.

Economic and Cultural Ties

PM Modi invited Polish companies to participate in India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, especially in sectors like food processing, urban infrastructure, and renewable energy. He also noted Poland’s rich tradition of Indology and Sanskrit, and announced the Jam Saheb Nawanagar Youth Action Program to strengthen people-to-people ties.

Historical Visit

This visit marks the first time in 45 years that an Indian Prime Minister has visited Poland. PM Modi thanked PM Tusk for his warm welcome and acknowledged Poland’s help in rescuing Indian students during the Ukraine conflict in 2022.

Future Prospects

Poland will assume the presidency of the European Union in January 2025, and PM Modi expressed confidence that this will further strengthen India-EU relations. The visit to Poland is part of PM Modi’s two-nation tour, which will also include a visit to Ukraine.
