Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Singapore for an official visit, aiming to boost India’s Act East policy and strengthen economic and technological ties between the two countries. MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized the importance of the trip, stating that it aligns with India’s vision for the Indo-Pacific region.

Jaiswal shared on his X handle, “This visit is important as it gives a major push to India’s Act East policy, India’s vision of the Indo-Pacific, and India-Singapore economic and technological ties. All these are very important for both countries.”

PM Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian community in Singapore and will be hosted for a private dinner by Singapore PM Lawrence Wong. Jaiswal elaborated on the next day’s schedule, mentioning that PM Modi will meet with the CEOs of top Singaporean companies and various Singaporean leaders, including President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

PM Modi also shared a post on his X handle, expressing gratitude for the vibrant welcome in Singapore. During his visit, many MoUs are expected to be signed, focusing on areas such as digitization, skills development, sustainability, health, advanced manufacturing, and connectivity. This visit follows a recent India-Singapore ministerial roundtable held on August 26.
