PM Modi’s Visit to Bhubaneswar: Schools and Colleges Closed for SUBHADRA Launch

The Odisha government has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area on September 17, in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state.

Launch of SUBHADRA Scheme

On September 17, PM Modi will be in Odisha to launch ‘SUBHADRA’, the flagship scheme of the Government of Odisha, in Bhubaneswar. The scheme is the largest single women-centric initiative and is expected to benefit over 1 crore women. Eligible beneficiaries aged 21-60 years will receive Rs. 50,000 over five years, with Rs. 10,000 per annum credited in two equal installments to their bank accounts.

Public Meeting and Closures

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, all schools and colleges in Bhubaneswar will be closed on September 17. Government offices will be closed for the first half of the day due to a large public meeting in Bhubaneswar.

Additional Initiatives

During the event, PM Modi will also release the first installment of assistance to nearly 13 lakh beneficiaries under PMAY-G across 14 states. The Griha Pravesh celebrations for 26 lakh beneficiaries of PMAY (Gramin and Urban) will be held, and PM Modi will hand over house keys to the beneficiaries. Additionally, the Prime Minister will launch the Awaas+ 2024 App for a survey of additional households for PMAY-G and the Operational Guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0.
