NCB Disposes 118 kg of Heroin in Punjab

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Deputy Director General Neeraj Kumar Gupta announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision to make India drug-free by 2047. As part of this initiative, 118 kg of heroin seized in Punjab between 2021-2023 has been disposed of.

Gupta explained, “To dispose of this drug, a high-level drug disposal committee is formed. The committee examines it and after completing all the formalities, the drugs are disposed of.”

National Anti-Narcotics Helpline ‘Manas’

Earlier, during his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ PM Modi introduced the National Anti-Narcotics Helpline ‘Manas.’ He urged people and organizations to use this helpline in the fight against drugs.

PM Modi said, “In Mann ki Baat, I have often discussed the challenges of drugs. Every family worries that their child might be exposed to drugs. Now, to help such people, the government has launched the National Anti-Narcotics Helpline ‘Manas.’ This is a very big step in the fight against drugs.”

The helpline, which can be reached at toll-free number 1933, offers advice and information related to rehabilitation. PM Modi emphasized that all information shared with Manas will be confidential and encouraged extensive use of the helpline.
