Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Wayanad, Kerala, to inspect the ongoing rescue and relief operations after the area was hit by massive landslides. The Indian Army briefed him on the progress of the Search & Rescue operation and the Bridging Operations.

During his visit, PM Modi engaged with the rescue teams at Chooralmala, the epicenter of the relief efforts. He was accompanied by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Governor Arif Muhammed Khan. The Prime Minister conducted aerial and on-the-ground surveys to assess the situation.

PM Modi assured that the central government is fully supporting the state government in the relief work. He mentioned that disaster management funds have been released and more will be provided as needed. He also met with injured victims and those in relief camps, expressing his condolences and support.

Over 300 people lost their lives in the landslides that struck Chooralmala and Mundakkai on July 30 due to heavy rainfall. PM Modi emphasized the need for long-term support schemes, especially for children who lost their families, and expressed confidence in the state government’s role in the recovery efforts.
