PM Modi Visits Ukraine: Pays Tribute to Gandhi and Meets President Zelenskyy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kyiv, Ukraine, on Friday. He paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at the AV Fomin Botanical Garden, where a bronze statue of Gandhi was unveiled in 2020. The statue symbolizes Gandhi’s principles of peace and non-violence.

PM Modi and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy honored the Memory of Children at the Martyrologist Exposition at the Ukraine National Museum. This exhibition presents documents and artifacts from major military conflicts and highlights the struggle of Ukrainians for freedom and cultural identity.

After visiting the museum, PM Modi headed to the Mariinskyi Palace for a meeting with President Zelenskyy. They discussed key issues and bilateral cooperation, followed by high-level delegation meetings and document exchanges to formalize agreements.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian community at the Hyatt Hotel in Kyiv. Many students were present, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister. Modi tweeted about the warm reception he received upon his arrival.

Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, noted that this is the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
