PM Modi Visits Austria for the First Time in 41 Years

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Austria, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in 41 years. He was warmly welcomed by Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer and Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.

Warm Welcome

PM Modi was greeted by Indian Ambassador to Austria Shambhu Kumaran and Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg upon his arrival. Schallenberg expressed his excitement, stating, “A warm welcome to Indian PM @narendramodi on his historic visit to Austria, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations. The partnership between our nations is based on a joint commitment to global security, stability, and prosperity.”

Chancellor’s Welcome

Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer also welcomed PM Modi, calling India a friend and partner. He shared a selfie with PM Modi and wrote, “Welcome to Vienna, PM @narendramodi! It is a pleasure and honour to welcome you to Austria. Austria and India are friends and partners. I look forward to our political and economic discussions during your visit!”

PM Modi’s Response

In response, PM Modi thanked Chancellor Nehammer and shared some pictures of their meeting. He wrote, “Thank you, Chancellor @karlnehammer, for the warm welcome. I look forward to our discussions tomorrow as well. Our nations will continue working together to further global good.”

Historic Visit

This visit is significant as it is the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited Austria since Indira Gandhi in 1983.
