On the eve of Diwali and the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched projects worth over Rs 284 crore in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat. These initiatives aim to boost tourism, improve accessibility, and support sustainability in the area.
Tourism and Infrastructure Enhancements
The projects include new tourist attractions and facilities to elevate the global reputation of the Statue of Unity area. Inaugurations included a bonsai garden, sewage treatment plant, and the Sardar Sarovar Dam Experience Centre. A 50-bed sub-district hospital was also opened, equipped with essential medical facilities.
Transportation and Environmental Initiatives
To improve traffic management, beautified traffic circles, smart bus stops, and pick-up stands were introduced. A four-megawatt solar project was inaugurated to promote green energy. Environmental efforts included expanding the Bonsai Garden and Miyawaki Forest.
Flood Protection and Sustainable Development
In response to flood damage, a protective wall near the Cactus Garden will be expanded. In Garudeshwar, land elevation work for a hospitality district redevelopment project has begun, aiming to prevent flood risks.
