FIR Filed Against Contractor and Consultant
The local police have filed an FIR against contractor Jaydeep Apte and structural consultant Chetan Patil. The FIR was registered under sections 109, 110, 125, 318, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), confirmed by Sindhudurg Police.
Indian Navy and State Government’s Response
The Indian Navy expressed deep concern over the damage and has deputed a team to investigate the cause and initiate steps to repair and restore the statue. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde termed the incident as ‘unfortunate’ and announced that officials from PWD and the Navy will investigate the cause.
Political Reactions
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule demanded action against the contractor and called for a thorough investigation into the statue’s poor quality. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut criticized the haste in the statue’s inauguration, suggesting it was done for electoral gains.
