PM Modi Meets Vietnamese President To Lam at UN Summit in New York

New York [US], September 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held bilateral talks with Vietnamese President To Lam during the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. PM Modi congratulated President To Lam on his new leadership role and expressed hope for stronger ties between India and Vietnam. He also shared his sympathies for the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam.

President To Lam thanked PM Modi for India’s emergency humanitarian assistance under Operation Sadbhav. Both leaders emphasized the importance of their countries’ cultural and strategic ties. They discussed ways to advance their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and exchanged views on regional and global issues, including the Indo-Pacific.

PM Modi shared on social media that they reviewed the full range of India-Vietnam relations and looked forward to enhancing cooperation in areas like connectivity, trade, and culture. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that the leaders discussed enhancing their strategic partnership and mutual interests.

Earlier, PM Modi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and Kuwait Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. He also addressed the 79th United Nations General Assembly’s ‘Summit of the Future’ and spoke on the responsible use of technology, global reforms, and India’s commitment to ‘One earth, One Family, One future.’

PM Modi also interacted with top tech leaders and CEOs in a Roundtable hosted by MIT School of Engineering. He discussed India’s growth prospects and initiatives for collaboration and innovation. PM Modi’s visit to New York included participation in the Quad Leaders’ Summit and meetings with US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. He also addressed the Indian diaspora at the Nassau Coliseum.
