Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the ICC T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team over breakfast at his residence on Thursday. After the meeting, the team headed to Delhi airport to fly to Mumbai for a grand victory parade at Marine Drive and Wankhede Stadium.

Meeting with Maharashtra CM

Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik announced that key players like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey, and Yashasvi Jaiswal will meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday at the Assembly. The event in Mumbai is organized by the BCCI, and free entry will be given to the public for the victory parade.

Warm Welcome in Delhi

The T20 World Cup-winning team received a warm welcome from fans in Delhi. During their meeting with the Prime Minister, the players wore special jerseys with two stars representing their T20 World Cup wins. The word ‘CHAMPIONS’ was written on the jerseys.

Celebration at ITC Maurya Hotel

After arriving in Delhi, the team stayed at ITC Maurya hotel, where they celebrated their win with a special cake featuring the T20 World Cup trophy. Stars like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya participated in the cake-cutting ceremony.

Victory Details

India ended a 13-year ICC World Cup trophy drought by defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final. Virat Kohli’s 76 helped India reach 176/7, while Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling restricted South Africa to 169/8. Bumrah, who took 15 wickets in the tournament, was named Player of the Tournament.

Flight from Barbados

The team, support staff, and media were stuck in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl. The BCCI organized a flight that brought them to Delhi. The team will have an open-top bus ride in Mumbai to celebrate their victory.
