Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a three-day visit to the United States, participated in the Quad (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) summit. At the meeting, PM Modi described the group as a ‘force of Global Good’ and emphasized its role in global partnership and contribution.

The Quad leaders, including US President Joe Biden, Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, praised India’s leadership in the Indian Ocean. President Biden noted that the US could learn from India’s experience and leadership in the region.

Japan’s Prime Minister Kishida supported PM Modi’s initiative for organizing the Voice of Global South Summits. Australia’s Prime Minister Albanese lauded India as the predominant power in the Indian Ocean under PM Modi’s leadership.

PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to Quad cooperation for a free and open Indo-Pacific and the region’s development priorities. The Ministry of External Affairs announced that India would host the next Quad Summit in 2025, following a request from the US.

President Biden hosted the summit and announced new initiatives, including providing new maritime technologies to Quad partners. Before the summit, President Biden and PM Modi held a bilateral meeting, affirming the strong US-India partnership based on democracy, freedom, and human rights.

The sixth Quad Leaders’ Summit marked a ‘farewell’ for both President Biden and Prime Minister Kishida before they step down from their offices. The Quad is a diplomatic partnership between Australia, India, Japan, and the United States.
