PM Modi Invites New UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a phone call with the newly-elected British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, and invited him to visit India soon. PM Modi congratulated Starmer on his election victory and both leaders expressed their commitment to strengthening the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

They recalled the historic relations between India and the UK and agreed to promote closer people-to-people ties. PM Modi appreciated the positive contributions of the Indian community in the UK and emphasized the importance of deepening economic ties between the two countries.

Starmer, who became the Labour Party leader in 2020, led his party to a significant victory in the UK elections, ending 14 years of Conservative rule. In his first speech as Prime Minister, Starmer promised to serve all citizens and start the process of rebuilding Britain immediately.

PM Modi also shared a congratulatory message on social media, expressing his eagerness for positive and constructive collaboration with Starmer to further strengthen the India-UK partnership. He also thanked former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for his contributions to India-UK relations.
