PM Modi Honors Polish Soldiers and Indian Maharaja in Warsaw
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid a wreath at the Monument to the Battle of Monte Cassino in Warsaw. This monument commemorates the victory of the Second Polish Corps during the Second World War in 1944, where more than 900 Polish soldiers lost their lives.
Earlier, PM Modi visited the Jam Saheb of Nawanagar Memorial in Warsaw, which celebrates the shared history between India and Poland. The memorial is dedicated to Maharaja Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji, who established a camp for Polish refugee children during World War II.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the significance of the Maharaja’s act of kindness, calling it one of the most evocative chapters in India-Poland relations. This visit is the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years.
