PM Modi Highlights India’s Green Future at RE-INVEST 2024 in Gujarat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet (RE-INVEST) 2024 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, emphasizing India’s commitment to a green future. He praised Mahatma Gandhi’s foresight on environmental issues, noting Gandhi’s minimal carbon footprint long before climate change was a global concern.

PM Modi highlighted India’s achievements in renewable energy, stating that India is the first G20 country to meet its Paris Climate commitments nine years ahead of schedule. He introduced the PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana, which allows households to generate and sell electricity, earning Rs 25,000 annually.

India aims to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, focusing on solar, wind, nuclear, and hydropower. Modi stressed that India’s efforts are not just for today but for the next 1000 years, aiming to remain a global leader in green energy.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also praised Modi’s leadership in advancing renewable energy. Patel highlighted Gujarat’s achievements, including its leading role in solar power and green hydrogen production.

The event, hosted by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, saw participation from various Indian states and international partners, including Australia, Denmark, Germany, and Norway. High-level delegations from the US, UK, and other countries also attended.
