New York [US], September 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the ongoing crisis in Gaza. PM Modi expressed deep concerns about the situation and reiterated that a two-state solution is essential for lasting peace. He also highlighted India’s historic support for Palestine at the United Nations and its consistent humanitarian aid.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri shared that President Abbas thanked PM Modi for India’s assistance and political support. Misri emphasized India’s commitment to supporting Palestine, especially in humanitarian efforts.

During his US visit, PM Modi also met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Vietnamese President To Lam, Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and Kuwait Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. However, a meeting with Bangladesh’s interim PM Muhammad Yunus was not possible due to scheduling conflicts.

PM Modi addressed the 79th United Nations General Assembly’s ‘Summit of the Future,’ discussing the responsible use of technology and the need for global institutional reforms. He stressed that Digital Public Infrastructure should be inclusive and called for reforms in global institutions to maintain their relevance.

Foreign Secretary Misri noted that the UN Summit document includes a detailed paragraph on UN Security Council reforms, marking a significant step forward. PM Modi also engaged with top tech leaders and CEOs in a roundtable hosted by MIT and addressed the Indian diaspora in New York.

On Saturday, PM Modi participated in the Quad Leaders’ Summit and held bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
