During a meeting in Moscow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the tragic deaths of children in conflicts. PM Modi expressed that it is “heart-wrenching” when innocent children die, and that everyone who believes in humanity is hurt by such losses. This discussion followed a recent missile strike on a children’s hospital in Kyiv, which resulted in the deaths of 37 children.

PM Modi said, “Be it war, conflicts, terror attacks – everyone who believes in humanity is pained when there is loss of lives. But when innocent children are murdered, when we see innocent children dying, it is heart-wrenching. That pain is immense. I also held a detailed discussion with you over this.”

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed disappointment over PM Modi’s visit to Russia, calling it a “devastating blow to peace efforts.” Zelenskyy highlighted the missile strike on Kyiv’s largest children’s hospital, which killed 37 people, including three children, and injured 170 others.

PM Modi also condemned a terror attack in Russia’s Dagestan, calling it “horrible and disgusting,” and noted that India has faced terrorism for over 40 years. He emphasized the pain caused by such incidents and strongly condemned all forms of terrorism.

PM Modi mentioned that the bilateral talks between India and Russia have been ongoing for 25 years, with 22 meetings so far. He noted that the entire world is focused on his visit to Russia, drawing various interpretations of its significance.

During his visit, PM Modi also addressed the Indian community in Moscow, discussing the strong ties between India and Russia and the contributions of the Indian diaspora. He announced the opening of Indian Consulates in Kazan and Yekaterinburg, and praised the Indian community for strengthening the relationship between the two nations.
