PM Modi Congratulates Avani Lekhara for Winning Gold at Paris Paralympics
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Avani Lekhara for her outstanding performance at the Paris Paralympics. Avani won India’s first gold in the women’s 10m air rifle event with a score of 249.7 points, her personal best. Mona Agarwal also secured a bronze medal in the same event.
During a phone call, PM Modi praised Avani, saying, “Avani, many congratulations to you. You are constantly performing well and keep working hard.” Avani thanked PM Modi, mentioning that his motivational words helped her handle the pressure.
On Sunday, PM Modi also spoke with other medalists, including Mona Agarwal, Preeti Pal, Rubina Francis, and Manish Narwal. Manish won a silver medal in the men’s 10m air pistol SH1 event, while Rubina and Preeti both secured bronze medals in their respective events.
India has so far won nine medals at the Paralympics: two gold, three silver, and four bronze. Notable performances include Nishad Kumar’s silver in the men’s high jump T47, Yogesh Kathuniya’s silver in the men’s discus throw F56, and Nitesh Kumar’s gold in the men’s singles SL3 badminton category.
