New Delhi [India], August 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day by hoisting the tricolour and addressing the nation from the historic Red Fort in Delhi.
Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi
Early in the morning, PM Modi visited Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. From there, he proceeded to the Red Fort.
Guard of Honour and Flag Hoisting
At the Red Fort, PM Modi inspected the Guard of Honour before hoisting the tricolour. The Punjab Regiment Military band played the National Anthem during the flag hoisting.
Prime Minister’s Address
In his 11th consecutive Independence Day address, PM Modi paid tribute to the freedom fighters and expressed sympathy for those affected by natural disasters. He emphasized the theme ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’, aiming to transform India into a developed nation by 2047.

Upon his arrival at the Red Fort, PM Modi was received by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, MoS Defence Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane.
