PM Modi Celebrates 7 Years of GST

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the seven-year journey of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), highlighting its benefits for 140 crore Indians. He noted that GST has made household items cheaper and increased savings for the poor and common man.

Benefits of GST

The GST, implemented in 2017, has reduced taxes on various products and services, creating a unified national market. Items like flour, curd, detergent, television, hair oil, and soap have become more affordable. This has led to significant savings for many people.

Finance Minister’s Announcement

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the next GST Council meeting is tentatively scheduled for mid-to-late August. The Council will discuss exemptions for specific services offered by Indian Railways and waivers for interest penalties on certain tax notices.
