PM Modi stated, “Our meeting is taking place at a time when the world is surrounded by many challenges like wars, conflicts, economic uncertainty, climate change, terrorism. There is talk of North-South and East-West divide in the world…And, in the age of technology, new challenges like cyber security, deep fake, disinformation have emerged.”

He stressed the need for dialogue and diplomacy over war and called for global regulations on cyber security and AI. PM Modi also urged BRICS countries to unite against terrorism and radicalization, advocating for the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the UN.

Furthermore, PM Modi expressed India’s readiness to welcome new BRICS partner countries, emphasizing unanimous decision-making and respect for founding members’ views. He also called for timely reforms in global institutions like the UN Security Council and WTO, ensuring BRICS is seen as a reformative, not a replacement, force.
