PM Modi declared an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured. The announcement was made through the official PMO handle on X.

The incident took place on Friday when nine youths from Vasna Sogathi village went to the Meshwo River dam for bathing. An idol of Lord Ganesh arrived for Visarjan, and one person started drowning. Others attempted to save him, leading to the tragic loss of eight lives.

Deputy SP Gandhinagar, D.T. Gohil, confirmed the recovery of eight bodies. NDRF Team Commander Lakhan Raghuvanshi stated that rescue operations are ongoing, with both NDRF and SDRF teams working tirelessly to ensure no one else is missing.
