Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish President Pedro Sanchez are in Vadodara, Gujarat, to inaugurate the Tata-Airbus C295 aircraft assembly plant. This facility, a collaboration between Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. and Airbus Spain, marks India’s first private sector final assembly line for military aircraft. The project is part of a Rs 2.5 billion deal to acquire 56 C-295 aircraft, with 40 to be manufactured in India.

Vadodara Welcomes Leaders

The city is beautifully decorated for the ‘Shobha Yatra’ that the leaders will observe. Residents are excited about the visit, hoping for strengthened international relations with Spain. Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi and Union Minister CR Patil have inspected the route for the PM’s roadshow.

Boosting India’s Aerospace Capabilities

The new plant will enhance India’s aerospace capabilities, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for aircraft development. Major Indian defense companies like Bharat Electronics Ltd. and Bharat Dynamics Ltd. are contributing to the project. The C-295 aircraft will modernize India’s air force fleet.

PM Modi’s Busy Schedule

In addition to the plant inauguration, PM Modi will visit Vadodara’s Laxmi Vilas Palace and Amreli to inaugurate infrastructure projects worth over Rs 4,800 crores. These projects aim to benefit Amreli and nearby districts. He will also lay the foundation for road projects and launch water supply improvements.

President Sanchez’s Mumbai Visit

President Sanchez will visit Mumbai to meet industry leaders, participate in the Spain-India Forum, and explore Bollywood collaborations, aiming to strengthen ties with Indian businesses and the entertainment industry.
