Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, inaugurated the Tata Aircraft Complex in Vadodara, Gujarat. This facility will manufacture C-295 aircraft, strengthening India-Spain relations and supporting the ‘Make in India, Make for the World’ mission.

Strengthening India-Spain Relations

PM Modi highlighted the significance of this collaboration, marking Sanchez’s first visit to India. The factory is expected to boost India’s defense manufacturing capabilities and export potential, similar to the success of metro coach exports from Vadodara.

Honoring Ratan Tata’s Legacy

PM Modi paid tribute to the late Ratan Tata, expressing that he would have been pleased with the inauguration. The factory reflects the new work culture of New India, aiming to export aircraft globally.

Advancements in Defense Manufacturing

PM Modi emphasized the growth of India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem, attributing it to strategic decisions made over the past decade. The government has expanded private sector participation and strengthened public sector efficiency.

Job Creation and Future Prospects

The new facility is expected to generate thousands of jobs and contribute to making India an aviation hub. With orders for 1200 new aircraft from Indian airlines, the factory will play a crucial role in designing and manufacturing civil aircraft.

Details of the C-295 Programme

Under the C-295 programme, 56 aircraft are planned, with 16 delivered from Spain and 40 manufactured in India by Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. This marks the first private sector Final Assembly Line for military aircraft in India.

Earlier, PM Modi and Pedro Sanchez participated in cultural events and greeted people during a roadshow in Vadodara.
