India and Russia have expressed deep concern over the situation in the Middle East, especially in Gaza. They called for the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages and the safe delivery of humanitarian aid. The two nations emphasized the need for effective implementation of UN resolutions and a lasting ceasefire.

Both countries reaffirmed their support for Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations and the two-state solution. The conflict in Gaza escalated after an attack by Hamas on October 7, leading to casualties and hostages.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks in Moscow, agreeing to strengthen regional security and cooperation in various forums like the East Asia Summit and ASEAN. They also discussed combating climate change and achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement.

India and Russia will continue to work together within G20, BRICS, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on key issues like international supply chains and fair trade rules. PM Modi was awarded Russia’s highest civilian honor, the Order of St Andrew the Apostle, for his contributions to India-Russia relations.
