PM Modi and Michal Spiczko Discuss Kabaddi and 2036 Olympics in Poland
Warsaw, Poland – August 23: Michal Spiczko, President of the Kabaddi Federation of Poland, is hopeful that Kabaddi will be included in the 2036 Olympics. He also expressed hope that PM Modi will push for India to host the 2036 Olympics and promote indigenous sports like Kabaddi.
A day after discussing the connection between India and Poland through Kabaddi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Michal Spiczko and Board member Anna Kalbarczyk in Warsaw. Spiczko felt a positive energy from PM Modi and praised his efforts in building the stadium in Ahmedabad, where the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup was held.
PM Modi commended Spiczko and Kalbarczyk for their dedication to advancing Kabaddi in Poland and popularizing the sport in Europe. He highlighted the role of sports in fostering bilateral relations and cultural exchange between India and Poland.
During his address to the Indian community in Warsaw, PM Modi mentioned that Kabaddi is played in every village in India and has reached new heights in Poland. Poland has been the European Kabaddi champion for two consecutive years and is hosting a Kabaddi championship starting August 24.
The Poland men’s national team qualified for the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup in Ahmedabad, where they defeated then-World Champions Iran in a preliminary group match. Two Polish players, Michal Spiczko and Piotr Pamulak, have participated in India’s Pro Kabaddi League.
