In New Delhi, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss various issues, including peace and stability in the region. Scholz highlighted the impact of Russia’s actions in Ukraine on both Germany and India, stressing the need for a political solution to the conflict. He also called for a ceasefire and a two-state solution in the Middle East.

The Chancellor expressed a desire to attract skilled labor from India, particularly in medicine, IT, and the care sector. Germany has developed a specific agenda to facilitate this, showcasing the value placed on India as a partner. Scholz also mentioned plans to cooperate on environmentally friendly technologies, such as digitization and green hydrogen production.

Reflecting on 25 years of partnership, Scholz noted the growing trust and cooperation between India and Germany. He emphasized the importance of economic ties, with Germany being India’s key trading partner in the EU. Scholz advocated for a Free Trade Agreement between India and the EU, believing it would benefit both sides.
