Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg. The meeting focused on the situation in Bangladesh, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in attendance.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in India on Monday evening after resigning due to mounting protests. She held discussions with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad about the current situation in Bangladesh and her future plans. The Indian Air Force has put its personnel on alert in every eastern sector, and security has been heightened at the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi.

Earlier, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar briefed PM Modi on the political situation in Bangladesh. The protests, primarily led by students demanding an end to a quota system for government jobs, escalated into anti-government demonstrations. At least 95 people, including 14 police officers, died in clashes in Dhaka on Sunday.

Sheikh Hasina and her sister left Bangladesh amid ongoing violence, with protesters breaching the gates of the Prime Minister’s residence. Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman announced a political transition and the formation of an interim government. Nahid Islam, a coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, stated that the outline of the interim national government would be formulated within 24 hours.
