New Delhi, June 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held important talks in New Delhi. They discussed how India and Bangladesh can work together in the future, focusing on connectivity, commerce, and collaboration.

Shared Vision for the Future

Both leaders talked about their national goals: India’s ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and Bangladesh’s ‘Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041’. They agreed that progress and prosperity are linked and that both countries are important partners for each other.

Strengthening Ties

PM Modi and Sheikh Hasina emphasized the importance of new technologies and green initiatives. They want to create a ‘Shared Vision for India-Bangladesh Digital Partnership’ and a ‘Shared Vision for India-Bangladesh Green Partnership for a Sustainable Future’.

Defence Cooperation

The leaders also discussed strengthening defence cooperation. They plan to work together on modernizing the Bangladesh Armed Forces and continue their military engagements, including exercises and training.

Cultural and People-to-People Ties

Recognizing their shared cultural heritage, the leaders agreed to promote exchanges between scholars, artists, tourists, and students. They also plan to support the families of Muktijoddhas, who are Bangladesh’s freedom fighters.

Supporting Youth and Regional Integration

India will help Bangladesh with essential commodities and focus on youth development through education, technology, and sports. The partnership aims to be a major anchor for regional integration under BIMSTEC, SAARC, and IORA.

New Initiatives

PM Modi announced that India will start an e-medical visa facility for Bangladesh nationals and open a new consulate in Rangpur, Bangladesh. This visit is special as PM Hasina is the first state guest during the third tenure of the NDA government.

Both leaders have met several times in the past year, and they have completed many developmental programs together. They have a futuristic vision for cooperation in new sectors like green partnership, digital partnership, blue economy, and space.
