PM Modi and Amit Shah Pay Tribute to Bengaluru Founder Nadaprabhu Kempegowda on His 515th Birth Anniversary

New Delhi [India], June 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, the founder of Bengaluru, on his 515th birth anniversary. PM Modi praised Kempegowda for his visionary leadership and contributions to economic wellbeing, agriculture, and irrigation. He also shared pictures from the ‘Statue of Prosperity,’ a 108-feet bronze statue of Kempegowda that he inaugurated in 2022.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also honored Kempegowda, calling him a towering leader who founded Bengaluru in the 16th century and promoted societal advancements. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah garlanded and showered flowers on Kempegowda’s statue in Vidhan Soudha to mark the occasion.

Statue of Prosperity

The ‘Statue of Prosperity’ was conceptualized and sculpted by Ram V Sutar, known for the Statue of Unity. It used 98 tonnes of bronze and 120 tonnes of steel to commemorate Kempegowda’s contributions to Bengaluru’s growth.
