New Delhi, India – Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a productive meeting with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Monday. The Crown Prince is on his first official visit to India from September 9 to 10, at the invitation of PM Modi.

Upon his arrival in New Delhi, the Crown Prince was welcomed by Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and received a ceremonial Guard of Honour. PM Modi shared on social media, “It was a delight to welcome HH Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. We had fruitful talks on a wide range of issues.”

The leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress in the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discussed further opportunities for cooperation. They highlighted the success of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT), which have strengthened economic ties between the two countries.

Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the visit, including agreements on nuclear cooperation, long-term LNG supply, and crude storage. The MoU on Nuclear Cooperation aims to enhance collaboration in nuclear power plant operations, sourcing nuclear goods, and exploring investment opportunities.

The agreement for long-term LNG supply involves 1 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA), adding to previous contracts signed by IOCL and GAIL with ADNOC. The MoU between ADNOC and ISPRL focuses on exploring additional crude storage opportunities in India.

The Production Concession Agreement for Abu Dhabi Onshore Block 1 between Urja Bharat and ADNOC is the first for an Indian company in the UAE, allowing crude oil to be brought to India. The MoU on Food Parks involves ADQ’s interest in developing a site in Gujarat for a Food Park project, set to commence in Q2 2025.

The Crown Prince will also visit Mumbai to participate in an India-UAE Business Forum, which will discuss future cooperation. A soft launch of the India-UAE virtual trade corridor (VTC) and MAITRI interface will also take place in Mumbai.
