Piyush Goyal Meets Indian Diaspora and Business Leaders in Zurich

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal visited Zurich to discuss the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA). During his two-day visit, he engaged in several important meetings.

Meeting with WTO Director General

Goyal had a crucial meeting with WTO Director General Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. They discussed ongoing negotiations and the progress made since the 13th Ministerial Conference of the WTO. The focus was on achieving fair and meaningful trade outcomes.

Engagement with Indian Diaspora

Goyal met with prominent members of the Indian diaspora in Zurich. He acknowledged their contributions to the Swiss economy and Indo-Swiss relations, encouraging them to invest in India. He highlighted opportunities under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the new India-EFTA agreement.

Discussions with Business Leaders

Goyal met with leading business figures and potential investors, including representatives from MSC Cargo. They discussed potential collaborations and investment opportunities in various sectors.

Meeting with Zurich Airport Officials

Goyal held a productive meeting with senior officials from Zurich Airport, including Chairman of the Board of Directors, Josef Felder. They explored opportunities for collaboration in enhancing airport infrastructure and advancing air services in India.

Meeting with India’s WTO Team

Goyal also convened a meeting with India’s WTO team in Geneva. They discussed priority issues currently under negotiation in the WTO.
