Piyush Goyal Launches AI and ML-Based Trademark Search Technology in New Delhi
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, unveiled the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) based Trademark Search Technology and IP Saarthi Chatbot in New Delhi. This new technology aims to speed up the clearance of trademark applications and improve accuracy.
During the event, Goyal mentioned that the platform would help resolve trademark-related conflicts and suggested including official languages in future updates. He also noted that the quality of patent disposals would improve with the new technology, and the government plans to integrate AI and ML for faster design approvals.
Goyal highlighted the significant increase in patent applications filed by women over the last decade. He also mentioned the government’s decision to reduce patent fees by 80% for startups, MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, individuals, and academic institutions to encourage innovation.
In the same week, the government launched five technology-based services, including the Trade Connect e-Platform, the Jan Sunwai Portal, ECGC’s new online service portal, a revamped in-house SMILE-ERP system, and BHASKAR, a one-stop shop for startups.
Goyal emphasized the importance of AI in daily work and quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 3 Is – Intelligence, Idea, and Innovation. He expressed the government’s commitment to making India a developed nation by 2047, a goal shared by 1.4 billion Indians.
