Piyush Goyal’s Address at World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, announced India’s readiness to become a major provider of telecom services and high-quality technological equipment to emerging economies. Speaking at the World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly and India Mobile Congress in New Delhi, Goyal emphasized India’s potential to lead international telecom supply chains and urged companies to enhance network connectivity in underdeveloped regions.

Goyal highlighted India’s success in achieving stable network connectivity across rural and urban areas, attributing this to the ‘Digital India’ campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. He praised the Prime Minister’s vision of using technology for governance and economic expansion, which helped maintain essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Goyal noted India’s advancements in telecom technology, stating that the country is ahead of many developed nations. He emphasized India’s commitment to quality in goods and services, contributing to the global digital ecosystem. The Minister also paid tribute to former President APJ Abdul Kalam for his contributions to technology and youth engagement.

Goyal expressed confidence in India’s ability to launch 5G technology alongside global counterparts and lead in 6G development. Through the National Broadband Mission, India aims to extend 5G benefits nationwide.
