Piyush Goyal Criticizes Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks on Manufacturing and China’s Influence

During a press conference in Washington DC, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, expressed his views on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comments about job losses in India’s manufacturing sector. Goyal emphasized that India is united in its efforts to become a prosperous nation by 2047. He also criticized the previous UPA government for allowing Chinese goods to flood the Indian market, which increased the trade deficit with China from USD 1.8 billion in 2004 to USD 43 billion in 2014. Goyal highlighted global concerns about China’s non-transparent economy and the security threats posed by Chinese goods.

He noted that the US is also imposing restrictions on Chinese goods due to these concerns. Goyal expressed disappointment over the impact of Chinese goods on Indian manufacturing and investor interest.
