New Delhi [India], September 25: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal celebrated the 10th anniversary of the ‘Make in India’ initiative, highlighting significant achievements. Mobile imports have decreased by 85% since 2014-15, and 99% of mobile phones are now made in India. Manufacturing jobs grew by 200% from 2022 to 2024.
Goyal emphasized the initiative’s role in transforming India’s manufacturing landscape, improving ease of doing business, and attracting foreign investment. He noted that the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting ‘Brand India’ as a symbol of innovation and quality worldwide.
Several transformative reforms have been introduced over the past decade, including the landmark Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which targets key sectors to enhance manufacturing capabilities. The government has also made strides in improving the ease of doing business and attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
Minister Goyal also emphasized efforts to strengthen the startup ecosystem and generate employment opportunities. He noted that ‘Make in India’ has laid a strong foundation for the country’s journey towards becoming a Viksit Bharat (developed India) by 2047, setting the stage for future industrial and economic growth.
