Rudraprayag (Uttarakhand) [India], August 16: The walking route to Kedarnath has been almost completely repaired, bringing relief to devotees. Pilgrims from Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Haryana reached Kedarnath Dham after 15 days of walking, as informed by the district administration.

The district administration shared that 260 laborers worked hard to rebuild the route, which was damaged in 29 places due to a tragedy on July 31. A rescue operation led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and District Magistrate Saurabh Gaharwar safely evacuated thousands of devotees and locals using helicopter services.

Currently, there are minor issues at one or two places on the footpath, but security personnel are assisting pilgrims. A pilgrim mentioned, “The footpath has been repaired, but there is still a problem at one or two places. Good arrangements are being made by the district administration, Rudraprayag.”

So far, 10,93,632 devotees have visited Baba Kedarnath, with 150 to 200 pilgrims arriving daily. Efforts are ongoing to repair the footpath completely to accommodate more devotees. Additionally, the Sonprayag-Gaurikund highway is being repaired quickly, with the NH department working day and night.

Earlier today, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended greetings on the folk festival of Ghee Sankranti (Gheu Tyaar), emphasizing the importance of folk festivals in the state’s rich heritage and tradition. He wished for happiness, prosperity, and health for everyone.
