Pilgrims Begin Amarnath Yatra from Srinagar Amid Tight Security
A new group of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims has departed from the Pantha Chowk Yatra base camp in Srinagar, heading towards the cave shrine in South Kashmir. The journey, which started on June 29 and will end on August 19, is taking place under heightened security due to recent terror attacks.
The pilgrims, singing devotional songs, are traveling along the Baltal and Pahalgam routes to reach the 3880-metre-high cave shrine. The annual pilgrimage is organized by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.
At the Srinagar Base Camp, a pilgrim named Jagveer Sisodia expressed his gratitude to the local administration for the facilities provided, including a communal meal service known as Langar. He also thanked the Army soldiers for their support.
Another pilgrim, Nikhil Sisodia from Indore, shared his positive experience, mentioning the good food and accommodation facilities. He also noted the security measures in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
The administration is working hard to ensure the safety and well-being of the pilgrims, amidst heightened security concerns and the challenging terrain of the route.
