Pilgrims Begin Amarnath Yatra Journey from Srinagar Amid Tight Security
Another group of pilgrims departed from Panthachowk in Srinagar for the Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir. They are heading to the Baltal and Pahalgam base camps before continuing to the holy site.
Binay Kumarsi, a pilgrim from Uttar Pradesh, said, “I am going for the Amarnath Yatra from Baltal. All the arrangements made are really good. I will pray for the safety of everyone and the progress of the country.”
Kamal Nirmalkar, a resident of Chattisgarh, added, “The arrangements made here are really good. The security arrangements are good too. I am really happy I came here. I will pray for the safety of everyone.”
The 52-day Amarnath Yatra, organized by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, started on June 29 and will end on August 19, despite increased terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. Devotees of Lord Shiva undertake this annual pilgrimage to the holy cave located in the South Kashmir Himalayas.
