Phil Salt to Lead England in T20I Series Against Australia
England’s opener Phil Salt will take on the role of captain in the upcoming T20I series against Australia. This change comes as Jos Buttler, the regular captain, has suffered a calf injury.

Phil Salt Steps Up
In Buttler’s absence, Phil Salt from Lancashire, who has captained the Manchester Originals in The Hundred this season, will lead the T20 side. The 28-year-old opener has scored 885 runs at a strike rate of 165.11 in 31 T20Is.
Replacements Announced
All-rounder Jamie Overton has been called up as Buttler’s replacement in the T20I squad. Additionally, batter Jordan Cox has been added to the ODI squad as cover.
Series Schedule
The three-match T20I series will begin on September 11, 2024, at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton. The second match will be played on September 13 in Cardiff, and the final match will take place on September 15 in Manchester.
