Petition Filed for CBI Probe Against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah in MUDA Scam

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], September 28: A petition has been filed in the High Court of Karnataka, seeking a CBI investigation against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the alleged MUDA scam. Advocate Vasant Kumar, representing petitioner activist Snehamayi Krishna, announced on Friday that they have filed a writ petition requesting the High Court to direct the CBI to conduct a fair investigation.

Vasant Kumar stated, “Today we have filed a writ petition making an appeal to hand over the MUDA investigation to the CBI. It will come up for hearing on Monday. We have also referred to yesterday’s special court order in the petition, which indicates that MUDA is a significant scam. That’s why we have requested the High Court for a CBI inquiry for a free and fair investigation.”

Earlier, a Special Court in Bengaluru ordered the Karnataka Lokayukta to investigate Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over allegations of illegalities in the allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to his wife Parvathi by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The Lokayukta’s Mysuru district police must conduct the investigation and submit their report within three months.

The Special Court’s order followed the Karnataka High Court’s decision to vacate its interim stay order, which had deferred the decision on the complaints against Siddaramaiah. This order came in response to a petition by social activist Snehamayi Krishna.

Despite strong demands from the BJP for his resignation, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has refused to step down. He pointed out that there are also FIRs against Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and others related to the electoral bond issue. Siddaramaiah argued that if he should resign due to an FIR, then Sitharaman and others should also step down.

Siddaramaiah further demanded the resignation of PM Modi and HD Kumaraswamy, stating, “Let them first take the resignation of HD Kumaraswamy and others. Shouldn’t they make Kumaraswamy resign? Even Modi also has to resign in the electoral bond issue. They have misused the electoral bond and looted; in that issue, HD Kumaraswamy, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Modi should resign first.”

The matter involves allegations against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding illegalities in the allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to his wife Parvathi by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
