PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti’s Roadshow Diverted Due to Fire in Jammu
PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti’s roadshow in Jammu was diverted after an electric pole on Super Bazar Road caught fire. The incident occurred near Bharat Mata Chowk during her campaign for PDP candidate Aditya Gupta in the Jammu East Assembly Constituency. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the fire was extinguished.
Mufti held the roadshow to support Aditya Gupta, who is contesting against BJP’s Yudhvir Sethi and Congress’s Yogesh Sawhney. The third phase of the elections is scheduled for October 1.
During the roadshow, Mufti criticized the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning their contributions to Jammu. She stated, “Here in Jammu and Kashmir, the Lieutenant Governor is from BJP, the Prime Minister is from BJP. What have they done for Jammu? As far as BJP is concerned, they won’t even cross 15 seats.”
Mufti also accused the BJP of creating unrest in Kashmir and criticized Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, referring to him as “Bulldozer Baba.” She claimed that the Ram Mandir project was politically motivated and criticized the BJP’s handling of the situation in Kashmir.
Voting for the second phase of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir began on Wednesday, with over 25 lakh eligible voters deciding the fate of 239 candidates across 26 constituencies. Prominent candidates include former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, BJP chief Ravinder Raina, and Congress president Tariq Hamid Karra. The final phase of polling will be held on October 1, with results announced on October 8.
