Tragic Death of NCP Leader Baba Siddique
On a somber Sunday, Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti expressed her sorrow over the death of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique. Siddique, part of Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction, was shot near Nirmal Nagar in Bandra and succumbed to his injuries at Lilavati Hospital.
Mufti shared her condolences on X, expressing shock and sadness over the assassination, especially given Siddique’s Y security. She extended her sympathies to his family and prayed for his soul.
Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, also mourned Siddique’s death, criticizing the Maharashtra government’s law and order situation. He emphasized the need for justice and accountability.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that Siddique would receive full state honors during his cremation, recognizing his service as a minister and MHADA chairman.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has registered a case at Nirmal Nagar Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Arms Act, and Maharashtra Police Act. Delhi police will send a special investigation team to assist in the probe.
Police suspect a gangster’s motive to establish influence in Mumbai as the reason behind the murder. Two accused, Gurmail Singh from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh, have been arrested. They had been monitoring Siddique for months, conducting reconnaissance of his home and office.
