PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to Meet Former Cricketers for Domestic Cricket Discussions
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will be meeting around 30-35 former international cricketers to discuss ways to improve Pakistan’s domestic cricket system. This meeting comes after criticism of Pakistan’s performance in the T20 World Cup, where they were eliminated in the group stage.
World Cup Performance
Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, had a disappointing campaign in the T20 World Cup. They lost their opening match in a Super Over against the USA and were defeated by India in a low-scoring game. Although they won their remaining matches against Canada and Ireland, it wasn’t enough to advance to the Super 8 stage.
Captaincy Under Scrutiny
Following the World Cup, Babar Azam’s captaincy has been questioned by former cricketers. Naqvi mentioned that no decision has been made regarding Babar’s future as captain.
Future Plans
Head coach Gary Kirsten and selector Wahab Riaz have submitted their tour reports to Naqvi. With a significant gap before Pakistan’s next white-ball series against Australia in November, the management has time to implement necessary changes.
