PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Responds to India’s Decision on ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), led by Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, is gearing up to formally address the International Cricket Council (ICC) following India’s decision not to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy scheduled for early 2025. This decision was reported by Geo News, citing sources within the PCB.

The PCB plans to send a letter to the ICC within the next two days, seeking concrete reasons for the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) refusal to participate in the event. The PCB is adhering to guidelines set by the Pakistan government in this matter.

Sources revealed that the PCB has consulted with the Pakistan government to determine the appropriate course of action. The decision by India is reportedly due to security concerns, as India has not traveled to Pakistan since 2008 due to tense political relations between the two countries.

In 2012-13, the last bilateral series between the two nations took place in India, and since then, they have only competed in ICC tournaments and Asia Cups. Earlier this year, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla stated that India would only travel to Pakistan if permitted by the Government of India.

Last year, Pakistan hosted the Asia Cup in a hybrid model, with India playing its matches in Sri Lanka while the rest were held in Pakistan.
