PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Confirms England Test Series in Pakistan

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that the upcoming home Test series against England will be held in Pakistan, dismissing rumors of a venue change to Sri Lanka or the UAE. The series will take place in Multan, Karachi, and Rawalpindi, starting on October 7.

Earlier this week, reports suggested a possible shift due to ongoing renovation work at the stadiums for next year’s ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Naqvi clarified, saying, “No Tests will be played outside [the country]. Multan and Rawalpindi venues are final.”

In Pakistan’s recent series against Bangladesh, the second Test was moved to Rawalpindi from Karachi due to similar renovation issues. The PCB had barred spectators from the second Test in Karachi to avoid distractions from construction noise and dust.

England’s head coach Brendon McCullum addressed the uncertainty, stating, “We don’t know (what is happening in Pakistan), but we can’t pick a team until we know where we’re going to play. It would be nice if, over the next couple of days, we found out.”

The three-match Test series is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. The first Test will begin on October 7 in Multan, the second on October 15 in Karachi, and the third on October 24 in Rawalpindi.
