In a thrilling T20 World Cup match at Arnos Vale Ground, Australia faced Afghanistan. Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran opened for Afghanistan and set a record with their third hundred-run opening stand of the tournament, scoring 118 runs together.

Australia’s Marcus Stoinis broke the partnership, and Adam Zampa took crucial wickets, including Zadran and Azmatullah. Pat Cummins made history by becoming the first bowler to take back-to-back hat-tricks in T20Is, claiming the wickets of Rashid Khan, Karim Janat, and Gulbadin Naib. Cummins joined an elite group of bowlers with two T20I hat-tricks, including Lasith Malinga, Tim Southee, Mark Pavlovic, and Waseem Abbas.

Australia’s spirited performance restricted Afghanistan to 148/6, with Zampa tying South Africa’s Anrich Nortje for taking at least one wicket in 16 consecutive T20 World Cup innings.
